Get jersey no. 9 ready for Palermo!
It seems Martin Palermo's dream of playing for Argentina again will finally come true after that horrible performance at Copa America 1999 and a cruciate ligament injury that prevented him from returning under Alfio Basile's orders.
"Palermo will for sure play either New Zealand or Mexico," coach Diego Maradona said during an interview with TyC Sports about a friendly game to be held against one of those teams.
Previously, they will play Russia on August 12. "This is a risky game as it was scheduled pretty close to our game against Brazil; we wouldn't have accepted it that way," he said.
Regarding that high-profile clash at the South American Qualifiers, Maradona referred to the new venue, Gigante de Arroyito.
"Playing there will be profitable for the players; it doesn't mean we'll win, but if you're used to play at Monumental and people there cannot give you the stamina that people at Rosario may give you, then it's an advantage we must take," Maradona said.
